SADC & COMESA Summary
COMESA was formed in the early 80s to promote trade between its member states and to give its members strength against the stronger countries that dominate trade, both with in and outside the region.
COMESA graduated into a free trade area in October 2000. Its next objective is to have a full Customs Union in place by December 2008.
It will eventually form the United States of Africa (African Union) in very simple terms an EU look alike by 2025.
